JUNE IS ADOPT-A-CAT-MONTH:
To celebrate this month and to help find homes for all of our wonderful shelter cats, we are having a special this month. During the month of June, if you are willing to adopt a cat from us that is over 6 months of age, we will have it spayed or neutered for you, at no additional cost. Your adoption cost is only $20 plus $10 for its rabies shot. If you’ve been wanting a cat, you can’t beat this deal. Hurry in to find the right cat for you.
Cats are wonderful pets! Get one today. Find out what you’ve been missing.
CAT SPAY VOUCHERS: As usual this time of year, we are getting calls daily about litters of kittens needing homes. Please do your part to prevent unwanted litters. If you own an intact female cat, please get her spayed. The shelter is offering $20 off vouchers to help offset the cost of getting a female cat spayed. Keep in mind that every kitten that is given away, takes away a possible home for one of the kittens at our shelter. ?
VACCINATION CLINIC: There will be a vaccination clinic on Saturday, June 19. It will be held at the Ladysmith Youth & Community Center, from 10am – noon. County dog licenses & city of Ladysmith cat licenses will be available for purchase at this clinic. If you haven’t licensed your pet, please do so now as those in violation of state, county, and city animal ordinances can and will be cited.
PROTECT YOUR PET FROM THE SUN:
Your pets can get heat stroke, just like us. Plus, they are wearing a fur coat, so it doesn’t take much for them to overheat. If your pet is outside, it must have access to a shady area. It should also have access to water at all times. This also applies to horses and other livestock. Signs of heat stroke are excessive panting or breathing, a body temp of 104 or more, collapse, bloody diarrhea or vomit, salivation, depression, stupor, seizures or coma. If you think your pet is suffering from heat stroke, get your pet out of the heat and try to cool it down with cool water. Then take your pet to the vet. Many consequences of heat stroke won’t show up for hours or even days and can be fatal if not treated medically. NEVER leave your pet in a parked car. Even with the windows cracked, your pet can quickly suffer heat stroke and even die.
RAISE THE ROOF FUNDRAISER: We will be selling hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs at Walmart on June 25 & 26. The proceeds will go into our new building fund. So plan to have lunch with us that weekend. We appreciate your support.
FRIENDS OF THE RUSK COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER: Our next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, June 24th at 5:00 PM at the Library, Lower Level. All are welcome to attend.
